Industrial enterprises and construction organisations use overhead type and cantilever cranes as well as electrical hoists. All such lifting equipment is controlled from the ground. The structure, operation thereof are not complicated, however, in compliance with the applicable safety rules for the operation of lifting cranes and the manual of operation of lifting machines, a trained and certified operator must be assigned to operate them. Every such operator may get a certificate having prepared on his/her own. However lots of workers prefer a training course at educational institution. A training programme, which duration is 2 weeks (70 hours), has been developed for the labour market vocational institutions. Approximately one half of the time foreseen for training (30 hours) is designated to theory training. Practical training takes 40 hours. The programme is intended for persons, who have 18 years of age and acquired a worker’s qualification. During theory lessons, it will be explained: the structure of overhead type cranes controlled from the ground, their operation, safe operation and maintenance requirements, the rules of hanging and lifting loads. Training programme has been developed in compliance with the Provisions on Work Safety Training, Instructing and Certification approved by the order No 85 of the Ministry of Social Security and Labour dated 07 07 1997 , the safety rules of the setup and operation of lifting cranes, applicable regulatory acts on work safety as well as the general requirements of the labour market vocational training. Practical training (40 hours) shall be conducted at enterprises, where good conditions to master skills required to operate overhead type cranes from the ground are created. Having successfully passed an exam, persons receive a s certificate (code 1114), allowing working as an operator of overhead type cranes controlled from the ground.
