The syllabus is designated to prepare escalator (sliding stairs in subway stations, stores) supervisors able to supervise, maintain and operate escalators and passenger transporters.
Future escalator supervisors are taught in theoretical lessons to identify potentially dangerous equipment, mechanical, electrical safety equipment, to perform the technical maintenance of escalators and to operate them, to know and comply with safety rules.
Practical training is conducted at enterprises with operating escalators and passenger transporters. The duration of practical training is – 8 hours. During such training, skills to supervise, maintain and operate escalators are consolidated and improved.
The programme is completed taking a final exam. Having completed the course, a person is awarded the right to work as an escalator supervisor.
Having completed the syllabus of an escalator supervisor, a person may continue his/her studies in accordance with the programmes of basic vocational training in the area of transport services, the sub-area of transport services or, having acquired secondary education, the programmes of higher education in the study field of transport engineering.
The training programme of an escalator supervisor is designated to persons over 18 years of age.
Qualification Description
Having completed the education programme of an escalator supervisor, any qualifications are not awarded, however a right to work as an escalator supervisor is given.
Having acquired a competence to work as an escalator supervisor, shall be able to:
operate an escalator, passenger transporter, to inspect passenger safety devices on escalators, passenger transporters, control devices, light and sound alarm signals, evacuate safely people from a stopped or defective escalator, passenger transporter; to know well the structure of an escalator and passenger transporter, the purpose and operation of control devices, the purpose and locations of the safety devices of an escalator or passenger transporter, light and sound alarm signals, characteristic failures, actions upon the failure of an escalator, passenger transporter, in the event of an accident or breakdown; organise responsively, independently and quickly their work, react rapidly, be observant, orderly and fair.
The syllabus of an escalator supervisor is conducted at the labour market training institutions. Persons willing to become a supervisor of an escalator shall have basic education.
Having completed the syllabus of an escalator supervisor, persons can supervise escalators at enterprises, organisations using escalators and passenger transporters.
